城镇化是一个涉及多方面因素的复杂的过程，基于对其内涵的理解，将城镇化抽象为经济城镇化、空间城镇化和人口城镇化。选取四川18个市为研究对象，对这些市的城镇化水平进行研究，结果表明：四川省城镇化水平普遍偏低，空间城镇化水平相对较高，土地城镇化现象严重，人口城镇化水平和综合城镇化水平基本是以成都为中心向四周逐渐递减的。健康有序的城镇化应该是经济导向型城镇化。

The urbanization is a complex progress concerning multi-aspects and it is generalized into the economy urbanization,space urbanization and population urbanization on the base of understanding of its connotation. The 18 cities in Sichuan province are chosen to be researched respectively on holistic the urbanization as well as the three types of urbanization mentioned above The result shows that level of economy urbanization of the cities is commonly lower while the level of the space urbanization is comparatively higher and the land is heavily urbanized. The level of population urbanization and holistic urbanization is on decrease from Chengdu as a centre to the other parts. The healthy and orderly urbanization should theoretically be the economy-oriented one, yet none of the cities meets the requirements in Sichuan province.
