The principle of transferring waste cooking oil (WCO) into biodiesel was described. The different methods of producing biodiesel with WCO and their process characteristics were reviewed, such as homogeneous catalytic transesterification of alkali catalyzed, acid catalyzed and two-step catalysis methods, heterogeneous catalyzed transesterification of solid base catalysis and solid acid catalysis, enzymatic catalyzed transesterification and supercritical transformation.
