Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) is an important vascular regulating factor on vascular endothelial cell.It play a variety of functions such as promoting endothelial cell proliferation and differentiation,inducing angiogenesis and increasing the microvessels permeability by binding to specific receptors on endothelial.In recent years,studies have shown that VEGF plays an important role in many lung diseases,such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,pulmonary hypertension,acute lung injury and lung cancer.Here we provide a comprehensive overview of VEGF in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,pulmonary hypertension,acute lung injury and lung cancer.
