内皮祖细胞(endothelial progenitor cells,EPCs)是一组具备相似特征的异源性异质祖细胞.这些细胞具备以下两个基本特征:表达祖细胞相关标记和具备向成熟内皮细胞分化的能力.胎儿期EPCs参与血管系统的发育.出生后,EPCs来源于骨髓干细胞池,参与内皮修复和血管生成.骨髓中的EPCs经活化、募集进入外周血中.内源性及外源性EPCs具备归巢能力,即在特定生理条件下,EPCs定向迁移至特定部位,黏附及进入血管内皮层.EPCs与呼吸系统疾病密切相关.EPCs是与呼吸系统疾病密切相关的有效生物标志物;EPCs参与呼吸系统疾病的发病,也是呼吸疾病治疗的重要靶点;外源性EPCs还是呼吸系统疾病靶向基因治疗的潜在载体.

Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) comprise rather heterogeneous cell sub-populations of multiple origins and localization,these cells were basically characterized by expression of progenitor markers and by terminal differentiation into mature endothelial cells.EPCs play a considerable role in vascular development during gestation.In adult,circulating EPCs are derived from stem cell niches in bone marrow,and contribute to endothelial repair and angiogenesis.Under special conditions,activated EPCs recruit in bone marrow EPCs and move out to the peripheral circulation.Homing ability is attributed to exogenous and endogenous EPCs that EPCs directed mobilize to specialized tissue site,adhesive to endothelium and enter into vascular endothelial layer.As an effective biomarker,EPCs may be utilized in respiratory diseases.For contributing to pathogenesis of multiple respiratory diseases,EPCs are a critical target for therapy.Exogenous EPCs are potential candidate vehicles for site-specific gene therapy.
