More and more evidence showed that serum thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) was an independent predictor for the diagnosis of thyroid cancer in patients with thyroid nodular goiter.In patients with thyroid nodular goiter,the risk of thyroid cancer increases with serum TSH level,and even TSH level within normal ranges,higher TSH level is associated with a higher frequency and more advanced stage of thyroid cancer.TSH suppression therapy can reduce thyroid carcinoma-related mortality and recurrence rate in high risk patients.TSH plays a key role in the development of thyroid cancer.
