借鉴哈佛医学院“New Pathway”项目的成功经验,根据医学遗传学的学科特点,结合北京协和医学院八年制临床医学专业本科生教育的特殊性,本学科于2004年启动了医学遗传学课程改革工作,以使医学生为基因组医学时代的到来做好准备.课程改革的具体做法包括:①开展以问题为中心、以病例为主线的课堂教学;②利用网络资源和多媒体手段,组织以学生为中心的主动学习;③围绕典型病例,开展社会实践和科研活动;④结合学科前沿和科研进展,注重基础临床衔接;⑤秉承“协和”双语教学传统,使用英文教材,聘请美国专家授课;⑥保持“协和”重实践的教学特色,新增实验课教学内容.

Inspired by the success of New Pathway curriculum at Harvard Medical School,the Department of Medical Genetics at Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) initiated in 2004 a course reform to prepare our students in the 8-year MD program for the advent of the era of genomic medicine.Here,the approaches to the reform were summarized as following:① problem-based and case-based learning were centered in the classroom teaching; ②web-based multimedia approach was used to stimulate student-centered active learning; ③typical genetic disorders were selected for practice and research projects ; ④the connection between basic and clinical medical sciences were emphasized ; ⑤English textbooks were used and well-known medical geneticists were invited to give lectures; ⑥clinical practice-directed teaching was preserved and lab work was designed and added to the course.
