Adipocytokines have influence on the individuals' sensitivity to insulin,leading to insulin resistance.The genetic polymorphisms in tumor necrosis factor alpha and adiponectin,and their association with type 2 diabetes mellitus have been widely studied.This article reviewed and summarized the relevant information published in China and internationally in recent years.It has been noted that the associations between the genetic polymorphisms in these two genes and type 2 diabetes mellitus are markedly different across different populations or races.
