The experiment on wheat starch modification with different kinds of oxidant was carried out. The proper-ties of modified wheat starch as surface sizing agent under different applying conditions for oxidants and its feasibil-ity as paper surface sizing agent were studied to find out the optimum conditions for the modifications of wheat starch oxidation.
