The samples of white mud or green mud were dried and grinded to fines, which was calcinated and melted to form sodium silicate, with sodium carbonate-boric acid flux at the temperature of 950 ℃ for 10 min, finally was treated with dilute hydrochloric acid into solution to produce silicic acid. The sample solution was determined for silicon dioxide content with silicon molybdenum blue spectrophotometry. This method has the characteristic of fast, accurate and reliable.
