《红楼梦》人物众多,且命名颇具特色:谐取名、诗词成语取名是其典型特点,且排列整齐.这些人名特点应当在翻译中得到体现.通过对《红楼梦》三种英语全译本人名翻译进行对比分析,有助我们认识译者在翻译富有汉语言文化特色的文学作品人名时所采取方法与翻译目的之间的联系,并有助我们客观认识翻译行为.

@@@@The names of the characters in the well -known Chinese novel A Dream of Red Mansions are diverse in origin and rich in meanings.Moreover, they are stylish in arrangement in the text .The features of these names should be reflected in translation.Through comparing and contrasting the three complete English versions of this novel , the paper attempts to discover the relationship between different methods of transferring these names and the underlying principles or reasons .By so doing, we hope to establish a historical and objective perspective towards the activity of translation .
