Based on the effects due to bridge building which were the main factors of river navigation conditions including the selection of bridge location, the layout of the bridge span and piers, the navigation clearance and so on, the relevant technical requirements and the preventive measures of ship-bridge collision accidents were analyzed comprehensively in this paper. Then the methods for active protection of ship collision from the bridge design viewpoint were proposed. The achievements can be taken as the reference for bridge design.
