@@@@Public private partnership(PPP)is widely used in the world. Many researchers claim that PPP can contribute to sustainability in nature as it promotes long-term productive use of resources. The briefing stage is important for a PPP project because it helps to clarify the client requirements in the procurement process that is one of the most important elements in PPP. In considering this,the current paper aims at identifying the procurement-related critical factors that could lead to the success of the briefing stage. Fifteen procurement-related factors are identified based on a review of the existent literature and three interviews. Factor analysis is then conducted to identify the latent dimensions that can explain the variance of briefing performance. Quantitative data are collected by use of a questionnaire survey in Hong Kong. Results reveal that there are four extracted dimensions:client’s requirements and decisions for briefing,briefing documentation and flexibility,clear briefing process and control,and stakeholders’ involvement in briefing. Discussion is provided to explain why these four dimensions are sustainability-based and to describe how they and their underlying factors can help to improve the briefing stage for PPP projects.
