Introduction was made to the principle and testing method of frequency domain dielectric spectroscopy (FDS) test. The FDS test was used to assess the condition of the suspected bushing. To further diagnose the bushing’s condition, the partial discharge test was done after the demolition of the bushing. Theoretical analysis and test results show that the dielectric loss frequency curve from 0.01Hz to1000 Hz is sensitive to bushing’s internal insulation aging, moisture, and internal foreign body. The FDS test has the advantages of simple implementation and good anti-interference ability. It’s a useful supplement of traditional detection methods and has good value in engineering applications.
