Xie Jin (1369-1415), native of Jishui, Jiangxi, was the first cabinet minister of Ming Dynasty and an eminent politician and scholar. As an intelligent person, he was an accomplished poet, calligraphist and a prolific writer; unfortunately most of his works are lost. He was an up-right official and experienced twists and turns in his life. Xie Jin has been remembered by many owing to Yong Le Da Dian (Great Encyclopedia of the Yongle Reign), the largest classified books compiled under Xie Jin′s instruction.
