There are 28 new structure type codes that have been approved by the Structure Commission of International Zeolite Association since April 1996, including 26 kinds of synthetic molecular sieves and two natural zeolites. A brief summary of these new topologies, as well as the type material, framework composition, space group, cell parameters, synthetic conditions and relevant references is presented. Procurement of a new zeolite is closely related not only to the use of increasingly complex structure directing agents (SDAs) but also to the systematic screening of the synthesis parameters. Microcrystal diffraction at a synchrotron source is an alternative approach when single crystals are unavailable for structure elucidation.
