Organic electrolyte solution is the major component of Li metal and Li ion secondary batteries, and it has some important effect on the batteries’ performance, such as reversible capacity, cycle properties and safety. A review on the anode stability, cathode stability and safety of organic electrolyte solutions was presented. Emphasis was focused on the compatibility of organic electrolyte solutions with the anode and cathode.
