Gemini surfactants are made up of two identical amphiphilic moieties covalently connected at the level of the headgroups by a spacer group. Studies on the novel surfactants have attracted considerable attention in surface chemistry domain. This paper reviews the synthesis of anionic gemini surfactants and introduces briefly some purification methods of synthetic compounds.
