The roles and the parameters needed to be considered in designing of the relief valve in the aluminum-alloy hydraulic valve terminal were analyzed. According to the requirements of aluminum-alloy hydraulic valve terminal,the directly operated relief valve was selected. The valve core structure of the relief valve was determined as cone through analyzing the working principle of the type and comparing its various structures performances. Three main geometry parameters values:the diameter of the relief valve,the gap between the valve core and the valve set,the cone angle of the conical valve were calculated. The static characteristics parameters values:the rated opening of valve core under the highest adjustment pressure,the hydraulic tight force,the spring stiffness of the re-lief valve and the prior compression were calculated,too. All these provide reference for designing relief valve.
