The accumulated installed wind power capacity of China ranks first in the world, and the wind power enters a phase of large-scale construction and integration into grid. With the large-scale wind turbine tripping accidents occurring in Jiuquan wind power base in 2011, the inadequacies of management and technical standards of the wind turbine and the wind farm integration are exposed. The standards from manufacturing, design, installation, commissioning to operation and technology supervision are not dovetailed with each other and with the standards of strong and smart grid. The stable operation of the power grid and reliability and power quality of the power supply are affected severely. Under the background of strong and smart grid construction and large-scale cluster wind power integration, the intrinsic relationship between large-scale wind power and smart grid and the power quality standard concerned and its practical application are analyzed. In order to ensure the sustainable and healthy development of large-scale wind and other new energy, the uniform power quality standards which are applicable to this situation should be amplified as soon as possible.
