A method and special device are used to mark the reference at the non-measureing side of finish mill loopers by using a non-wear position as reference point in different stands. A same reference marking block is used to mark the reference on the loopers of a finish mill to finish the whole marking process. This method can reduce the time and cost for the reference marking on loopers and can perform reference marking and checking during the normal operation of finish mills.
