现代汉语具有单音节性,即以单音节音义单位为基础的性质.文章从语素、词类、汉字和汉语的关系三方面论证了这种单音节性.汉语高频语素大多成词,不成词语素特殊条件下也能独用成词,单音节语素是构成汉语语句的基础单位.汉语词类中各类词的基础和核心也都是单音节的.汉字同汉语相适应,为单音节性服务并且对单音节性有维护作用.

Modern Chinese has the nature of monosyllabic. The nature based on monosyllabic unit of sound and meaning. This paper demonstrates the nature from three areas of the morpheme, the pats of speech and the relationship between Chinese and Chinese character. The author notes that most morphemes of the modern Chinese are monosyllabic, morpheme played an important role in Chinese. Monosyllabic words are also the basis and core in various parts of speech. Adapting with Chinese, the Chinese characters not only serve the monosyllabic nature, but also have maintenance function for monosyllabic nature.
