提出了一种在大波长范围内具有高双折射和小有效模场面积的光子晶体光纤.采用全矢量有限元法分析了该光纤的模场分布、有效模场面积、有效折射率以及偏振保持等特性.分析结果表明,该光纤的双折射很容易达到10-3量级,其双折射值高于传统六角芯型保偏光子晶体光纤.此外,该光纤的有效模场面积比传统六角芯型保偏光子晶体光纤的小,这降低了光纤的损耗和弯曲损耗.适合应用于偏振特性及弯曲不敏感性要求都较高的实际光纤传感系统,例如光纤陀螺.
提齣瞭一種在大波長範圍內具有高雙摺射和小有效模場麵積的光子晶體光纖.採用全矢量有限元法分析瞭該光纖的模場分佈、有效模場麵積、有效摺射率以及偏振保持等特性.分析結果錶明,該光纖的雙摺射很容易達到10-3量級,其雙摺射值高于傳統六角芯型保偏光子晶體光纖.此外,該光纖的有效模場麵積比傳統六角芯型保偏光子晶體光纖的小,這降低瞭光纖的損耗和彎麯損耗.適閤應用于偏振特性及彎麯不敏感性要求都較高的實際光纖傳感繫統,例如光纖陀螺.

A novel highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber structure with five air-holes in the internal layer was proposed and analyzed by using a full-vector finite method (FEM). The effective refractive indices of two orthogonal polarization modes and the birefringence of the new photonic crystal fibers(PCF) were investigated. The relation curves between the birefringence of this PCF and the wavelength of the input light and the radius of larger air holes were given respectively. The numerical results show that, the birefringence of the new polarization maintaining photonic crystal fiber can easily achieve the order of 10-3, which is at least one order of magnitude higher than that of standard birefringent ones. It is shown that it may exhibit birefringence as high as 6.5 10?? at wavelength of 1550 nm, or even higher. It can well satisfy the application 3 of real optical sensing systems which need high polarization and reliability, e.g. fiber optic gyroscope.
