Art Spiegelman is an American comics artist, editor, who exerts great influence on American postmodernism. His?Pulitzer Prize-winning comic book memoir, Maus, not only gains him an international reputation, but also makes great contribution to the development of American postmodernism studies. This thesis mainly focuses on the character analysis of Vladek in Maus, exploring why it is Vladek who could survive in the Holocaust, through which can readers develop a deep understanding of what a severe scar the Holocaust has left on people.
