The paper provides a THz wave modulator base on compound lattice photonic crystal, which is an external modulator using digital baseband signal to conduct intensity modulation to the carrier wave of THz wave. The modular could control the transportation of four different THz wave simultaneously by taking the advantage of the characteristic of compound lattice that one point defect could modulate two defect modes. Thus realizing the on-off modulation of the THz wave. This modulator has the advantages of wider photonic band gap and smaller volume.
