It has been reported that long-term exposure to low-grade inflammation is a prominent risk factor for several chronic diseases. Physical activity is universally acknowledged as an important strategy for reducing chronic inflammatory biomarkers. This review collected some evidence on this field. Most of the observational studies confirmed an inverse association between markers of systemic inflammation and physical activity, while intervention studies were less consistent. The mechanism of the affect of physical activity on these biomarkers is not clear.
