This paper summarizes the characteristic of municipal solid waste in China and analyzes the trend of development in waste treatment technology. It explains in detail that there are unprecedented opportunities for Dongfang Electric Corporation to develop the plasma gasification of solid waste, from such various aspects that include policy guide, overcoming of limitations of waste incineration, huge market demand and rapid development, and compliance with the company strategic development plan, etc. Finally, it analyzes the challenges for this technology along with the countermeasures by taking ‘ Three-Step” for DEC to realize the industrialization applications of the plasma gasification technology of solid waste.
