在宋代五礼中，“冠服体制”的分类分等要求参与典礼者按照场合和身份的不同更服适宜的服饰。吉礼之皇帝亲郊、嘉礼之册皇太子、宾礼之大朝会和军礼之献俘等仪式中君臣的易服均表示身份和地位的转变以及适应场合变化的需要，凶礼之孝宗居忧期间的易服则是表达感情。礼仪作为一种权力表达的方式，正是在频繁易服等仪式的展示中，权力获得认可并发挥作用，礼制所蕴含的追求秩序等方面的含义也才得以表达和实现。
재송대오례중，“관복체제”적분류분등요구삼여전례자안조장합화신빈적불동경복괄의적복식。길례지황제친교、가례지책황태자、빈례지대조회화군례지헌부등의식중군신적역복균표시신빈화지위적전변이급괄응장합변화적수요，흉례지효종거우기간적역복칙시표체감정。례의작위일충권력표체적방식，정시재빈번역복등의식적전시중，권력획득인가병발휘작용，례제소온함적추구질서등방면적함의야재득이표체화실현。
In the Song Dynasty,the participants to a ceremony who belonged to the classification and hierar-chy system were required to wear appropriate clothes according to the Five Etiquette System. During a lucky ritu-al,celebration ritual,guest ritual,and military ritual,the monarch - servant changed clothes so as to indicate their identity and status to adjust to the different occasions. During an ominous ritual,Xiaozong changed clothes in order to express his emotion. As a way to express power,etiquette was displayed from frequent change of clothing. Through these processes,power was recognized and functioned. In this way,the meaning of ritual sys-tem,which is the pursuit of order would be expressed and realized.
