《老子》一书有传世本和1993年在湖北出土的竹简本。竹简本主要阐述守道归朴理论及其根据途径等，内容在传世本中均予以收纳，传世本对此还有重要的补充和发展，将其理论加以玄虚化、思辨化和权术化，大大丰富了原来的有、无、道等范畴和宇宙生成的学说，并提出阴阳等新的范畴和思想，进而形成若干方面的法律观点和道德理念。

“Laozi”has two editions:handed down edition and bamboo edition unearthed in Hubei in 1993.The bamboo edition expounds the theory of keep Dao and the methods which the theory according to, its content is contained in the handed down book, and the handed down book also has important supplement and development, make the theory mysterious, dialectical and political, greatly enriched the category of“have”,“not have”,“Dao”and the formation of the universe theory, and put forward the new category and the idea of“yin-yang”, and several aspects of law and moral ideas form.
