ABSTRACT:The utility industry has entered into big data era as the construction and development of smart grid. This paper proposed the power big data concept and explained the key features of power big data. It presented power big data key technologies and indicates the new capabilities that should be developed by China utility companies. Finally, the potential power big data application scenarios in China power industry were summarized and a maturity model was developed to assess the priorities of these applications. The power big data is in the initial R&D stage that requires collaboration among utility companies, research organizations, industry vendors and government agencies. Big Data will bring significant value to utility industry.
