This paper explains the significance and importance of the research and development (R&D) capability for evaluation of superior manufacturers, and in terms of the standardization it discusses R&D capability related to the assessment. The paper discusses in-detail the evaluation factors reflected in R&D capability, which includes new product development capability, process capability, instrument and equipment, tool, and fixture management and failure analysis as well as innovation statistics, etc., explaining the implementation and application of these factors in evaluation for superior manufacturers.
