大学英语词汇教学研究一直备受高校教师及科研人员的青睐，但是其实践效果却不令人满意。意象图式作为认知语言学的一个重要理论，对于词汇教学与传统教学法有着不同的看法。传统教学法认为多义词的各个义项之间没有任何联系，是孤立的。意象图示认为多义词尤其是介词的各个义项之间不是孤立的而是有着内在联系的。所有义项之间都是围绕一个或者多个核心义项形成一个多义网，这些义项之间的关系可以用简单的图示表示。

The research of teaching vocabulary in college has been the core aspect for a long time, but its practical effect is not satisfied with the teacher and college students. As an important theory in cognitive linguistics, image schema has different ideas on vocabulary teaching from traditional teaching method. In the traditional teaching method, there is no link among various senses of a polysemous word and is isolated. According to the image schema, these senses are not isolated and they have inner relationship with each other which formed a polysemous network for all items. Then the relationship among these meanings can be represented by the simple diagrams.
