The theoretical basis to the implementation of ultra-high speed grinding is introduced, the research status and develop-ment trend of the grinding technology at home and abroad in recent years are summarized, the mechanism, advantages and charac-teristics of high speed and ultra-high speed grinding are elaborated, several key technologies which is used to realize high speed and ultra-high speed grinding are listed. High speed and ultra-high speed grinding is an advanced processing technology which is used to improve the grinding efficiency, reduce surface roughness of work piece and enhance the quality of parts. Ultra-high speed grinding can be used to go across the temperature death val ey of the grinding processing, avoid the grinding surface burn and realize ductile domain grinding of the hard brittle material and its performance of grinding high plastic and difficult material is perfect.
