“打草惊蛇”出自北宋郑文宝的《南唐近事》。最初比喻严惩某人而使其他人有所警觉。可是，随着时间的推移，“打草惊蛇”逐渐摒弃了原意，演变为另外一种意思，即比喻因行动不谨慎而惊动了对方，致使人有所戒备。而日语“草を打って蛇を驚かす”虽然保留了原意，却产生了一种与汉语截然不同的解释，即“比喻无意中所做的事情产生意想不到的结果。”并且该意思逐渐成为其主流意义。
“타초량사”출자북송정문보적《남당근사》。최초비유엄징모인이사기타인유소경각。가시，수착시간적추이，“타초량사”축점병기료원의，연변위령외일충의사，즉비유인행동불근신이량동료대방，치사인유소계비。이일어“초を타って사を경かす”수연보류료원의，각산생료일충여한어절연불동적해석，즉“비유무의중소주적사정산생의상불도적결과。”병차해의사축점성위기주류의의。
The Chinese idiom “da cao jing she”comes from The Last Thing of Southern Tang written by Zheng Wenbao of the Northern Song Dynasty. The idiom originally means punishing someone and making others alert. With the passage of time, the original meaning has been abandoned and another meaning has been developed,that is,one disturbs the other party by incau-tious action,which makes people take precautions. However,the Japanese idiom “草を打って蛇を驚かす”has an interpretation different from the Chinese explanation,while retaining the original meaning. It means that one gets unexpected results by doing inadvertently things,which gradually becomes the mainstream.
