通过调查发现大学生经济弱势群体存在的重要原因在于家庭成员结构及收入水平，加上社会收入分配悬殊较大等。而这些因素导致大学生经济弱势群体的思想行为具有交叉性、复杂性、差异性、系统性特征。针对大学生经济弱势群体的思想行为特征和当前形势，高校需对大学生经济弱势群体的资助工作做出合适的改进：首先整合资源、协调合作、优化项目，构建系统、科学的高校资助工作体系；其次积极引入社会学、心理学的工作机制开展高校资助工作，实现大学生经济弱势群体的自我转化；最后打造一支具有专业知识背景的高校资助工作专兼职队伍。
