Objectives:To probe into the outcomes and clinical significance of applying raw honey to the dermatoplasty on infected wound surface. Methods:Prepared pollution-free raw honey ( without being processed with high temperature) bought from the market and soaked the sterile gauze piece into the raw honey for standby application. At first, after debridement and disinfection of the wound surface, a little raw honey was directly applied onto the wound surface and then conventional punctiform skin graft, with the skin flap excised from the thigh, was conducted. Finally, the wound was covered with the ready honey gauze piece and banded with pressure bandaging. Every day two drops of gentamicin solution were dripped onto the wound surface with secreta and the dressing was changed every 5 to 6 days. Systemic antibiotic treatment could be adopted based on specific circumstances of the wound. Results:16 cases of grafted skin survived at the first attempt and 2 cases survived after a second attempt. Generally the wound would nearly heal 5 days following the dermatoplasty. Conclusion:The application of raw honey to the dermatoplasty on infected wound surface could have achieved desirable curative effect. Besides, the method might be easy to operate and therefore ccould be popularized among the grassroots levels.
