The moment of inertia is one of important parameters of object.The measurement of moment of inertia is a signifi-cant part of parameters measurement, it is significant in the mechanical design and engineering practice, for example, its measurement can contribute to definite the working characteristics and performances of parts rotating a fixed axis, and also it is an essential part for researching and controlling the flight orbit and attitude of flight body.Methods to determine the moment of inertia are simply introduced, including the methods of calculation and measurement.At present, there are many measuring e-quipments of moment of inertia with full range of models, the principles and the advantages and disadvantages of typical meas-uring devices of moment of inertia at home and abroad are further introduced in this paper, and methods how to correctly choose high measuring accuracy, convenience and low cost device according to actual demands are analyzed.
