生命教育融入高校思想政治理论课教学有重要意义：有利于大学生形成正确的生命价值观，增强大学生的抗挫能力；有利于增强高校思想政治理论课的实效性；有利于加强校园文化建设，构建和谐校园。以《思想道德修养与法律基础》为例，生命教育融入高校思想政治理论课的教学内容设计如下：把生命教育融入理想信念教育和爱国主义教育中，引导大学生学会珍爱生命；把生命教育融入世界观、人生观和价值观教育中，引导大学生认识生命的价值；把生命教育融入道德教育中，引导大学生争做道德模范；把生命教育融入法制教育中，引导大学生增强法律意识；把生命教育融入择业和创业教育中，引导大学生积极践行生命价值。
