模糊限制语是一种语言模糊形式。不同类别的模糊限制语会实现同样的语用功能,同一种模糊限制语也能产生不同的语用效果。广告作为一种特殊的交际形式,语言通常简要准确,但在英语广告中却经常出现模糊性词汇。通过尝试结合模糊限制语和英语广告语言,唤起学界对英语广告中模糊限制语深层次研究的关注,并推动其应用。

Hedge is a phenomenon of vagueness in language which is frequently utilized in human communication.Different hedges help to achieve the same pragmatic functions, while hedges of the same kind can realize different pragmatic functions as well.The language used in advertising must be precise and clear so as to avoid economic loss.But hedges are often found in adver-tising English which make things fuzzier or less fuzzy.This paper especially studies the hedges in the advertising language based on the collected ads.It aims to call for the scholars to pay attention to the hedges in English ads and elaborate their pragmatic func-tions.
