In this article, it introduced the risk assessment method for corroded pipeline based on reliability theory, gave the limit state equation of 3 kinds of failure mode (fracture, gross leak and leakage) and reliability targets. Using the reasonable assessment software PIRAMID to asses the risk of keeping the current the maximum operation pressure and reducing the maximum allowable operation pressure for an in-serve 30 years pipeline after 6 years, and the operation and aintenance schemes for this pipeline were given under such two cases.
