专业设置是学校的基础性工作，是提高学校办学质量和效益的关键。结合昆明冶金高等专科学校的专业设置实际，对目前专业的设置与建设进行思考，提出根据社会职业分类和地方经济发展及产业结构变化的需要，分析现有可利用的教育资源条件，科学、适时地调整专业设置，以增强学校的办学活力。

Professional settings are the groundwork for Vocational Colleges which are a key of improving school-running level and quality and efficiency.This paper reflects current professional settings and buildings combined professional settings of Kunming Metallurgy College,and it also presents the need of the social occupation classification,local economic development and industry structure change to adjust professional settings with available teaching resource condition which are to enhance its quality and effi-ciency.
