Essential fatty acids( EFAs) play an important role in the human body,they form the lipid bi-layer of the cell,affect its liquidity,compose receptors,make signal transduction and cell membrane regenera-tion cycle. The study found that the essential fatty acids have anti-inflammatory effects,may constitute a po-tential link in different pathological processes of diseases. Essential fatty acids have a role in the treatment of dry eye in ophthalmic research. Essential fatty acids have a role in the treatment of dry eye in ophthalmic re-search. This review discusses the role of essential fatty acids in dry eye from the source, biochemistry and re-action.
