多发性抽动症是一种儿童和青少年时期起病、具有明显遗传倾向的精神性疾病。现代医学认为，多发性抽动症是一种常染色体显性遗传伴外显率表现度异常的疾病，确切病因尚未完全明了。西医治疗多选用多巴胺受体阻滞剂，长期用药副作用大，远期疗效不能持久。近年来，大量临床研究报道显示出中医中药对本病的治疗具有安全有效、无副作用等优点。本文就多发性抽动症的病因病机、辨证论治、外治法进行综述。

Tourette syndrome (TS) is a kind of neuropsychopathic disturbance, which is initiated in childhood or in adolescence, with the characteristic of obvious genetic tendency. Modern medicine takes TS as a automosal dominant inherited disease with abnormal degree of penetrance, while the etiology and pathogenesis of TS is still uncertain. Dopamine receptor bolcker is the main drug for TS in western medicine treatment. However, it has severe side effects and poor outcomes for long term use. In recent years, great clinical studies from traditional Chinese medical science showed that traditional Chinese medicine treatment for TS has made a great progress, which is more effective and safe, and has fewer side effects. This paper reviewed the etiology and pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and extermal therapy of TS.
