Homologous recombination repair (HRR) is an error-free pathway that plays a critical role in maintaining genomic stability and integrity.Therefore,the dysfunction of HRR often leads to severe genomic instability which may facilitate the generation and development of cancer.However,the instability caused by abnormal HRR can also destroy the cell inherent metabolism and becomes strategic target for confronting drug resistance in cancer.Here,we will review the process and classification of HRR and the relationship between dysfunctional HRR and genomic instability.
