清末明初,随着西洋电影进入中国,作为上海通俗小说创作主体的鸳蝴派文人恰在此时创作了一批影戏小说,通过自己的观影经验重述电影情节,改写成小说,在大众刊物上发表。这一类小说除广告效应之外,中外小说范式的拉锯以及影像到文字的叙述变化,都突出反映了一个时代文学理念与形态演变的轨迹。

At the end of the Qing Dynasty and in the beginning of the Republic of China, and with the introduction of Western films into China, men of letters belonging to the Mandarin Duck and Butterfly School, a major creative part of Shanghai popular fiction, wrote batches of“Film Fiction”by writing fiction adapted from the films they had watched and by re-writing the plots of the films before publishing them in popular magazines. Apart from their advertising effects, these fictions feature the toing and froing of fictional paradigms, Chinese or foreign, and changes in narration from filmic images to words that prominently re-flect the traces of transformation in the literary concepts and forms of the time.
