The electricity market in the UK is a competitive market with independent generation, transmission, distribution and retail companies. The role of the electricity companies and government regulator in the electricity market are briefly introduced together with the profit model and final pricing mechanism of the generation, transmission, distribution, retail companies and system operators. By description with examples of the transmission and distribution companies’ pricing mechanism for connection charge and use of the sys-tem charge of the transmission and distribution networks, it is considered that a clear and reasonable accounting mechanism for assess-ing the transmission and distribution companies’ connection charge and use of the system charge of the transmission and distribution networks is the premises to deploy pricing for the electricity receiving sides. Based on the profit and price analysis of the electricity mar-ket in the UK, some proposals are given for the electricity industry reform in China.
