使用聚四氟乙烯材料代替橡胶、碳素等材料应用于注水泵各部件的密封上。它是一种耐高温高压、耐腐蚀、密封性能好，使用寿命长的高分子化合物。实际表明，聚四氟乙烯对提高注水泵泵效，延长设备使用周期，降低维修作业强度，改善设备运转状况。
