十堰市是国家南水北调中线工程核心水源区，加快推进生态文明建设刻不容缓。但十堰生态文明建设面临巨大挑战，资源环境约束趋紧，经济社会发展水平相对落后，生态系统脆弱，因此需要从构建科学合理的空间布局体系、自然优美的生态环境体系、绿色低碳的产业发展体系、集约高效的资源能源利用体系、循环低碳的城乡一体化体系、系统规范的生态文明制度体系、节约适度的生态文化体系来推进生态文明建设。
십언시시국가남수북조중선공정핵심수원구，가쾌추진생태문명건설각불용완。단십언생태문명건설면림거대도전，자원배경약속추긴，경제사회발전수평상대락후，생태계통취약，인차수요종구건과학합리적공간포국체계、자연우미적생태배경체계、록색저탄적산업발전체계、집약고효적자원능원이용체계、순배저탄적성향일체화체계、계통규범적생태문명제도체계、절약괄도적생태문화체계래추진생태문명건설。
As the core water source area of the Middle Route Scheme of South to North Water Division Project, Shiyan urgently needs to promote the construction of ecological civilization. In fact, there are great challenges, including the strong constraints of resources and environment, the relatively backward social and economic development, and the fragile ecological system, in the construction of ecological civilization in Shiyan. In this article, some correlative systems need to be set up, such as scientific and reasonable spatial layout system, natural and beautiful ecological environment system, green and low-carbon industrial development mode, intensive and efficient utilization of energy and resources system, low-carbon and circular urban-rural integration system, normal and systematic ecological civilization system, moderate ecological culture system, to strengthen the construction of ecological civilization.
