阴阳学说是中国哲学的重要内容。古代医学家借用阴阳学说来解释人体生理、病理现象，指导中医的诊断和治疗，以及对中药的认识和应用。作为中药材的动物、植物和矿物都是自然界的一部分，它们的存在形态各不相同，出自不同的地域和环境，感受了不同的天地之气，所以其阴阳寒热属性和功用也各不相同，这是“法象药理”的重要内容。运用中国哲学的阴阳理论，通过观察药物基源的动静特点、生活区域，结合药物的四气五味等，判断药物的阴阳寒热属性，具有相当的准确性。

The Yin‐Yang theory is an important part of Chinese philosophy .Ancient Chinese medical scientists used this theory to explain the human physiological and pathological phenomena ,to direct the clinical diagnosis and treatment and to guide the understanding and application of medicine .The animals ,plants and minerals as Chinese medicine are all the part of nature .However ,they have different existing forms ,live in different environment and receipt different gas of heaven and earth .As a result ,all of them own the different functions and properties of Yin‐Yang ,which puts forward a pharmacological method state theory as an important content in Chinese medical theory .Applying the Yin‐Yang theory has considerable accuracy to estimate Yin‐Yang properties of medicine by observing the dynamic and static characteristics and living areas of medicine source ,combining drug’s four properties and five flavors .
