词汇是语言学习的基础，构建外语学习者的词汇能力是外语教学的重要任务之一。英语新词主要是通过对原有语言材料进行加工而构建的。以认知语言学为理论框架，从原型范畴、隐喻、转喻、经济性、相似性等方面分析英语转化法的构词理据，可以更好地帮助英语学习者理解和运用这一构词法，建构强大的英语词汇能力。

Vocabulary is the foundation of English learning, so it is necessary for English learners to construct large vocabulary. There exists so many word formations, such as blending, derivation, and conversion, with each has its own motivations. Conver?sion, one of the main word formation, can be better understood from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. This paper intends to analyze motivations of conversion from the prototypical, metaphorical, metonymic, economical and similar aspects so as to bet?ter serve English learning.
