Objective To investigate the effect of peer support on self-efficacy and quality of life in metabolic syndrome patients living alone in community. Methods A total of 90 patients with metabolic syndrome as the research object, while the patients receiving no peer support interventions were divided into control group and the patients receiving peer support were the observation group, 45 patients in each group. The intervention results of patients were evaluated by the exercise of self-care agency scale ( ESCA) and quality of life scale (QOL). Results After intervention, it was (126. 98 ± 10. 13) score in the observation group comparing with (108. 56 ± 9. 75) in the control group for self-efficacy (t=5. 954,P<0. 05). The scores of life quality for patients in the observation group was (42. 62 ± 5. 86) comparing with (34. 76 ± 5. 15) in the control group (t=3. 543, P <0. 05). Conclusions Peer support on self-efficacy and quality of life in metabolic syndrome patients living alone in the community have positive improvement, which is worthy to promote in the clinical.
